Grizzlies U8

U8 is for 6-7 year olds who like skiing so much they are looking for more ski training as they rip it up for 45 days over the course of the season. They also need role models and this group will see both the Men’s and Women’s World Cup races as they become part of the action at these events. Their motto will be “ski anything, any place, at any time”! Whether it is steep shoots, tight slalom courses, never ending moguls, challenging drills, deep powder, fast GS courses or tight trees, the program delivers the skills to deal with all of this and a whole lot more. Throughout the season they will also be challenged with opportunities to train in the same environments as our U10 group. So how does a crazy little U8 rips down a challenging run? Come find out!

The new U8 program will begin on snow last weekend of November as the athletes find their ski legs just in time to cheer on the Canadian National Team at the World Cup Downhill and Super G races at the beginning of December. Over the Christmas and Year’s Holidays these athletes participate in 2 Camps that really set them up for the season. Throughout the year they will compete in several Club Races (joining the younger and older Grizzlies athletes in the following competitions: Candy Cane Classic, the Gene Durand Classic, and the Grizzly Cup along with select Regional Races against other clubs within our province. Not to mention the multiple social activities planned for the whole family après ski! During Spring Break we take advantage of the warm temps and longer days with 2 camps to do some final prep for the Doug Meyers Memorial Race that is right around the corner. The season then wraps up at the end of April with the Family Fun Race for athletes, coaches and parents followed by the Club Banquet!

Athletes in this program should be capable to go up the Summit Platter lift unassisted.
